The Galaxy Z Flip 8, which was announced alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra today, has two screens. However, unlike the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series phones, neither of its displays has an anti-reflective coating to reduce glare and reflections.
The inner foldable screens on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra have an anti-reflective coating that Samsung claims reduces reflections by up to 50%.
Samsung has not used the same coating on either of the Galaxy Z Flip 8's displays. The phone also uses the same OLED panels as last year's Galaxy Z Flip 7, with no brightness improvements.
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 has a 4.1-inch cover screen and a 6.9-inch foldable screen. Both panels can reach up to 2,600 nits of peak brightness and up to 120Hz refresh rate. While Samsung has not added an anti-reflective coating that would make content easier to see outdoors, it has made the crease less visible than on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 by using its new Flex Titanium hinge mechanism.
Despite using the same display panels and lacking an anti-reflective coating, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 should offer a slightly better experience by reducing the crease's visibility and feel. However, Samsung has missed an opportunity by reserving the anti-reflective coating for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series.
